About the National Conference
Nepalgunj and the broader mid-western region of Nepal, encompassing Banke, Bardiya, Surkhet, Dailekh, and Dang districts of Lumbini and Karnali Provinces, remain among the country's most technology-underserved areas. A 2024 NPC provincial data brief indicates that Lumbini Province has one of the lowest per-capita ICT infrastructure indices outside the Bagmati corridor. Local government units (Palika), health institutions, agricultural offices, and engineering firms operate with minimal digital tools. Engineering graduates from the region migrate to Kathmandu or abroad, creating a chronic brain-drain.
This national conference is IoE & IT's strategic step aligned with LTU's goal of becoming a knowledge hub for the region, stimulating technology adoption, fostering research connections, and demonstrating to the nation that world-class technical discourse can happen right here in Nepalgunj.
Key Objectives:
- ⟶ i. Knowledge to Community: Academic research and technological innovation must translate into real solutions for Nepalgunj's citizens, Palika officials, farmers, and disaster-prone communities do not remain confined to journal pages.
- ⟶ ii. Gap to Opportunity: Every technological gap identified in the region; digital governance, disaster preparedness, agricultural modernization, represents an opportunity for LTU graduates, researchers, and entrepreneurs to build careers and create impact locally.
- ⟶ iii. Connection as Strategy: Structured networking between academia, industry, and government bodies during this conference is designed to generate MoUs, research partnerships, and employment pathways that outlast the event itself.
Institute of Engineering and Information Technology (IoE & IT)
Nepalgunj-10, Banke Lumbini Province, Nepal
Lumbini Technological University was established on July 2, 2022 (Ashar 18, 2079 BS) by the Act of Province Legislature with the goal of advancing higher education in the field of information technology, engineering, agricultural and forestry, and tourism, among others, with a particular focus on the application and development of technology and innovation. Technology continues to play an increasingly significant role in shaping our world with traditional jobs being replaced by tech-oriented ones, which demands competent professionals. LTU's mission is to promote and offer comprehensive programs at undergraduate and graduate levels that produce graduates who have both disciplinary expertise and the ability to handle real-world problems by combining theoretical knowledge with practical application along with exposure visits to reputed technological institutions. LTU recognizes that academic programs are not the only way to foster a rich learning experience. To this end, it also places a strong emphasis on research and continuous education programs by supporting and encouraging students and faculty to engage in rigorous research activities, thus fostering a culture of innovation and creativity that benefits both students and faculty alike.
